Gurugram, May 4 -- In a bid to tackle the chronic issue of waterlogging in Gurugram ahead of the monsoon season, Haryana's industry and commerce minister Rao Narbir Singh on Saturday conducted an inspection of flood-prone areas in the city. Singh, accompanied by Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) commissioner Ashok Garg, and senior GMDA officials visited multiple localities to assess monsoon preparedness. The minister's inspection followed unseasonal rainfall that once again exposed the city's fragile drainage infrastructure. Singh visited several critical spots, including Sikanderpur, sectors 27, 28, 43, 51, 54, 56, Shiv Nadar School Road, Wazirabad, Hero Honda Chowk and Narsinghpur among others. Singh directed officials of the municipal corporation and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to fix accountability at every waterlogging hotspot. "Assign one responsible officer to every identified point of waterlogging," he said. "If water accumulates again during the monsoon, the concerned officer will face action. This responsibility must continue regardless of transfers-whoever joins will take responsibility for that location."...
