Gurugram, May 18 -- The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) declared its Class 10 results on Saturday, with several students across the state securing over 96% marks in their board examinations. From Gurugram district, Vinay Kumar from Sahjawas village and Aman Verma from Carterpuri, scored above 96% in their secondary board exams, according to HBSE data. Gurugram recorded an overall pass percentage of 92.89%, which is slightly above the state average. Meanwhile, across Haryana, the overall pass percentage for regular students stood at 92.49%, with 2,71,499 students appearing for the board examination and 2,51,110 clearing it, the results showed. A total of 5,737 students were marked under the Essential Repeat (ER) category, which means that they will need to reappear for subjects that they did not clear. Vinay Kumar, a student of Bal Bharti High School, scored 97% and emerged one of the top scorers from Gurugram district. "I used to study six to seven hours every day after school. I prepared a study plan for each subject and stuck to it," he said. Vinay's father, Shiv Kumar, said that his son did not take any tuition and relied on self-study. Across Haryana, the girls once again outperformed boys. Out of 1,29,249 girls who appeared, 1,21,566 passed, recording a success rate of 94.06%. Among boys, 1,29,544 out of 1,42,250 passed, with a pass percentage of 91.07%. Private school students performed better than their government school counterparts. While private schools recorded a pass percentage of 96.28%, government schools achieved 89.30%. Haryana Board of Secondary Education chairman, Prof Dr Pawan Kumar, said, "The performance of girls, rural students and those from government schools is encouraging. It reflects the board's efforts to strengthen foundational education across Haryana."...
