Haryana man held for cheating in rlys exam
Dehradun, Dec. 4 -- A 22-year-old man from Haryana was arrested for allegedly using unfair means in railways exam in Dehradun, a police officer said, adding that a cheating slip was recovered from him.
The accused, identified as Vivek (who goes by single name), is a resident of Charkhi Dadri in Haryana.
According to police, during interrogation, the arrested candidate revealed the involvement of several other individuals, indicating the role of an organised gang using a private messenger app to facilitate cheating in the examination.
The accused had allegedly struck a deal worth Rs.4 lakh with a man from Haryana in exchange for ensuring his success in the exam.
Police officials said links to Haryana have surfaced and a thorough investigation is underway.
An FIR into the matter was registered at Patel Nagar police station on Tuesday under relevant sections of the BNS and Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
The FIR stated that during the second shift of the online examination of the Railway Board at an examination centre on Saharanpur Road, the suspicious behaviour of the candidate was noticed. The official searched the candidate and recovered a cheating slip from his possession.
Then the accused was arrested from the spot.
SSP Ajai Singh said: "During questioning, Vivek told police that he had paid an advance to a man identified as Sharma from Haryana, who promised to help him clear the examination. He also claimed that three individuals met him near the examination centre before the test, they downloaded an app on his mobile phone, and wrote the answers on a slip using information accessed through the app. Vivek hid the slip inside the sleeve of his jacket before entering the hall."...
