Gurugram, May 24 -- The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will soon finalise the design of the proposed elevated Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) between Vatika Chowk and the cloverleaf on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Kherki Daula, GMDA officials said. The project consultant has made three designs and submitted it to the authority for perusal. A presentation displaying the designs was also made to the authority on Friday, officials aware of the matter, said. The GMDA plans to construct a 5.3 km-long elevated road between Vatika Chowk and the cloverleaf on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway to facilitate smoother traffic movement on this stretch. According to officials, the elevated road will provide an additional layer for vehicles, reducing ground-level congestion, particularly during peak hours. The Haryana government has already given approval for this road project. A senior GMDA official, requesting anonymity, said that three different designs have been proposed for the elevated SPR project, which will be 3.6km in length and an amount of Rs.750 crore has been earmarked for the construction of this road including land acquisition. "The proposed designs for the SPR include construction of the elevated road on the lines of Dwarka Expressway with flyovers at the junctions, the second design is construction of road on the lines of the Delhi-Jaipur expressway, with entry and exits at specific points and the third option would be to construct a completely elevated road with access only at entry and exit points," said the official.
