GMDA to get 3.65 acres of land to build sewage plant
India, June 12 -- Gurugram: The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) has agreed to handover around 3.65 acres of land at Naurangpur village in Sector 78 to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), for the construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) which will collect sewage from sectors 77 to 80 and also adjoining villages, officials, aware of the matter, said.
The Manesar civic body has asked for Rs.12.5 crore for the land, they said.
A senior GMDA official, requesting anonymity, said that a number of condominiums have come up in sectors 77 to 80 and the villages adjoining these sectors also have a large population. However, at present there is no drainage and sewage treatment system to cater to this area.
Following the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to the state government, the GMDA has decided to build a sewage treatment plant of 40mld capacity in Sector 78, which will cater to the sewage generated in this area.
"For the construction of this plant, the authority had sought 3.65 acres of land from MCM, and this proposal has been approved by the urban local bodies department of Haryana," the official cited above, said.
"The land will be made available to the authority at the rate of Rs.3.41 crore per acre and the amount will be paid to MCM. The process to begin construction of this plant will be taken up after the land is transferred to the GMDA," the official said.
GMDA officials said that it will take nearly two years to construct the sewage treatment plant, and they will hire a consultant to prepare a detailed project report. The project will be proposed in the authority's meeting to be chaired by the Haryana chief minister and later in the purchase committee meeting for allotment of tenders.
"This plant will cater to the sewage produced in residential societies in these sectors and villages such as Shikohpur, Naurangpur, Nakhdola and adjoining areas," GMDA officials said....
