Gurugram, May 26 -- The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has granted permission for a geotechnical survey for the proposed flyover at Ambedkar Chowk (sectors 45/46 and 51/52), near Artemis Hospital, officials said on Saturday. The flyover, expected to cost Rs.52 crore, has already received state government approval and will be 700 metres long. The survey, to be conducted by a private consultant from May 25 to June 15, is a prerequisite for preparing the detailed project report (DPR). "The flyover will be constructed in two years from the date of allotment of the contract," said a senior GMDA official. According to GMDA's internal traffic survey, Ambedkar Chowk witnesses severe congestion, especially during peak hours, with average vehicle waiting time exceeding 10 minutes. The presence of a large private hospital nearby has also led to instances of ambulances getting stuck in traffic. "GMDA has appointed a consultant for preparation of DPR.
