Gurugram, May 6 -- A 51-year-old woman died and her octogenarian mother-in-law was critically injured after a portion of their ancestral home collapsed in Sector 6 on Sunday evening, police said on Monday. The incident occurred between 6.30pm and 7pm in 8 Biswa, one of Gurugram's oldest villages, while the victims and several family members were seated in the courtyard of the decades-old two-storey structure. Investigators said a large section of the terrace-supported by corroded iron beams-caved in, causing heavy debris to fall on the family. Police said five people sustained minor injuries, but Kamlesh and her mother-in-law, Sona Devi, in her 80s, suffered the direct impact. Both were rushed to a private hospital in Sector 51, where Kamlesh succumbed during treatment around 9.45pm. Inspector Sukhbir, station house officer of Sector 5 police station, said, "The structure, estimated to be six to seven decades old, had not undergone any known repairs."...
