ggm to develop 10 low-noise, low-pollution roads by 2026
Gurugram, Dec. 24 -- Ten model roads with minimal noise and vehicular pollution will be developed across Gurugram district beginning early January 2026, officials said.
The project will introduce safety and emission-curbing measures on a 50-km network spanning East and West zones.
The decision followed a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Dr Rajesh Mohan.
A pilot will start on MG Road, featuring honk-free zones, traffic signal synchronization, and pothole repairs. "Based on the Commission for Air Quality Management's recommendations, a coordinated effort... will ensure that the identified roads are dust-free, with minimal noise levels and traffic snarls," DCP Mohan said.
Officials said emission-reduction work will cover 33 roads and junctions, starting with five arterial roads in each zone, including stretches from Iffco Chowk towards City Bus Depot. Safety upgrades will include CCTV coverage, road markings and lane enforcement. While no fixed deadline has been set, authorities aim to complete ten model stretches by March 2026. Municipal bodies will also enforce manual sweeping and scrapping to control dust and construction waste.
