Gurugram, Sept. 9 -- The outpatient departments and emergency wards at Sector 10A Civil Hospital are witnessing a surge in patients suffering from diarrhea-induced fever, health officials said. Nearly 90% of emergency cases involve high fever or gastrointestinal issues. Doctors are advising patients with prolonged symptoms to get tested for malaria and dengue. Health officials attributed the spike to monsoon rains and waterlogging. "Due to seasonal changes and poor drainage, we are seeing an uptick in vector-borne diseases," said Dr JP Rajliwal, District Malaria Officer, Gurugram. He confirmed 51 dengue and eight malaria cases since July, with no deaths so far. In 2024, 186 dengue and two malaria cases were reported. Hotspots include Wazirabad, Garhi Harsaru, Gurgaon village, Daultabad, Nakhrola, Badshahpur and Pataudi. "As part of the Rapid Fever Mass Survey, our teams have visited 15,09,508 houses this rainy season, with 187 larvae-positive on Monday," said Dr Rajliwal.
