India, May 2 -- A city court sentenced a 42-year-old man to rigorous life imprisonment on Thursday, after holding him guilty of murdering his colleague by slitting his throat near the mini secretariat, police said. The court of additional sessions judge Sunil Kumar Dewan also imposed an overall fine of Rs.35,000 on the convict after pronouncing him guilty under the Indian Penal Code. Gurugram police, public relations officer, Sandeep Kumar, said that the incident took place on the night of January 29, 2021 when the convict Bhola Prasad attacked Ram Charan, 47, and slit his throat. He later fled from the spot. "The primary reason behind the murder was that Prasad had been recently hired by eatery owner Rajesh Kumar while Charan was working with him for the last several years, which had resulted in insecurity in the other employee," he said. "The issue snowballed into an argument and it led to Prasad killing Charan," he said.
