Rohtak, June 28 -- Fatehabad police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly strangling his daughter to death two weeks ago and burying the body in a pit in the house. The accused, Jeet Singh, a resident of Kata Kheri village is a sanitation worker by profession. He killed his 26-year-old daughter Chano Devi by strangling on June 13. The deceased was living at her parental home for the last five years after a feud with her husband and was mentally ill, police said. Fatehabad Sadar police station house officer (SHO) Kuldeep Singh said that the accused had killed his daughter as he was unable to take care of her. "The accused said that his wife had passed away a few years ago and his younger daughter got married on June 2. His 22-year-old son usually stays outside the home and the accused man was staying with Chano Devi. The accused confessed to strangling the daughter and buried her inside a pit in the house," the SHO said. The SHO said that the matter came to light when the accused man's brother Manjeet Singh visited the house and asked about Chano, adding when the accused failed to give an answer, he started searching for her. "The complainant saw a pit inside the house and after digging he found the victim's body. He alerted the police, following which we arrested the accused. He will be produced before a local court. The accused was booked under section 103(1) and 238(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita," the SHO added....
