Gurugram, Dec. 23 -- A Gurugram resident has approached the cyber police alleging a fake property advertisement on WhatsApp and social media has falsely projected his penthouse in DLF Golf Links as a "distress deal", claiming reputational damage. In a complaint to the police commissioner, Kunwer Sachdev, founder of Su-Kam and Su-vastika, stated an unidentified individual posing as a broker is circulating messages claiming his "luxury penthouse" at The Magnolias is for sale at a distressed price of Rs.70 crore. Sachdev clarified the property is not on sale and he has resided there for over a decade. "The use of the term 'distress deal' wrongly implies financial hardship and creates a false narrative in society. This is fraudulent and defamatory, and such cases are on the rise," Sachdev said. He added the false listing caused embarrassment and mental distress, urging police to identify the culprit, stop the circulation, and initiate legal action. Responding to Sachdev's complaint, Priyanshu Dewan, assistant commissioner of police (cybercrime), said an inquiry has been initiated. "All details related to the complaint are being collected. Once the inquiry is completed and the necessary material is available to corroborate the allegations, an FIR will be registered for taking further legal action against the suspects involved," Dewan said, noting a rise in such cases....
