Gurugram, June 26 -- The Faridabad police on Wednesday arrested the mother-in-law of Tannu Rajput for her alleged involvement in the murder of Rajput, officials said. Rajput's decomposed body was recovered on June 20 from a soak-pit dug in front of her marital home in Roshan Nagar, Faridabad's Palla area. The mother-in-law is identified as Sonia, 45, police said. Police said Rajput was murdered on the night of April 21 after being given sugarcane juice laced with sleeping pills. She was allegedly strangled in her sleep by her father-in-law, Bhoop Singh, 54, who is on police remand until Thursday. Her husband, Arun Singh, 28, remains absconding. Faridabad police public relations officer Yashpal Yadav said, "Bhoop was trying to mislead police by taking all blame, but Sonia's questioning revealed she was dropped at a relative's house in UP on April 18 to execute the plan." He added that Arun and Bhoop buried Rajput's body in a soak-pit dug the previous day. Arun had filed a missing person's report on April 25 and claimed his wife had eloped. Her family from Firozabad suspected foul play and alerted police. During Bhoop's interrogation, he confessed to the murder. Rajput's sister-in-law Kajal, 25, has not been arrested but remains under scrutiny. Police said the murder stemmed from a family feud and dowry dissatisfaction after the couple's 2023 marriage....
