Gurugram, Dec. 1 -- Four assistant linemen (ALMs) at Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) office in Sohna were booked for the "unnatural death" of Harpal, a 31-year-old private electrician electrocuted while repairing power supplies on an electricity pole in Silani village late Friday. Police said he was allegedly lured by officials with money and a government job promise. An FIR was registered at Sohna Sadar police station after Harpal's family complained on Saturday. An officer said, "The four ALMs - Rahul, Naveen, Naresh and Fateh Singh - who live in Sohna, were named by the victim's family for not shutting off power supplies and sending Harpal for the repair work allegedly without any precautions or safety equipment." No arrests have been made. Preliminary probes revealed Harpal's clothes caught fire from the 11,000-volt line, and he collapsed. An officer said, "Harpal's family alleged that the linemen had promised him a permanent job many times." A senior DHBVN official said a departmental inquiry has been launched. "We will soon make the inquiry findings public, and will fully cooperate with police," he said, requesting anonymity. A separate FIR was registered against linemen union leader Usman Khan for pressurising Harpal's family with bribes and making casteist slurs at Sohna city police station. Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said, "We are gathering evidence through nearby CCTVs and villagers' testimonies to apprehend the ALMs." Investigation is underway....
