Elderly pedestrian gored to death in shocking accident
Gurugram, Aug. 30 -- A 69-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding motorcycle on the Sohna elevated road on Thursday evening, police said on Friday, senior police officers said.
The victim, identified as Tulsi Ram, lived near the Gurudwara in Sohna and worked as a daily wage labourer.
Police identified the motorcyclist as Abhilash Kumar, 32, an employee of a private firm in Gurugram.
The accident took place around 8pm on Thursday when Ram was attempting to cross the elevated road while Kumar was riding towards Sohna from Gurugram, police said.
Sandeep Kumar, public relations officer (PRO) of Gurugram police, said Ram may have stepped down from a public transport vehicle on the stretch. "The impact was severe, and Ram succumbed to his injuries at the spot," he said, adding that Abhilash lost control of his motorcycle and skidded for more than 100 metres.
"He sustained multiple fractures and his condition was critical," PRO Kumar added. Commuters alerted police, and emergency response teams shifted both men to Sohna civil hospital.
On the basis of a complaint from Ram's family, an FIR was registered against Abhilash on Friday.
