India, June 23 -- Continuing its drive against illegal constructions and running of commercial establishments in residential colonies, the enforcement wing of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) on Saturday, issued show cause notices to 266 property owners in Sushant Lok 2 and 3, DTCP officials said. These notices were issued after inspections were conducted by enforcement officials in which they found 83 houses in Sushant Lok 2 and 183 houses in Sushant Lok 3 violating building norms and carrying out commercial activities against rules. DTCP officials said that they had pasted the notices outside the properties, and owners have been given a week's time to submit replies. District town planner, enforcement, Amit Madholia said that they have issued around 650 show cause notices to property owners in the last 15 days, and they have been asked to submit replies. "In the case of notices issued last week, the department has found that a number of owners have submitted replies, which are not satisfactory. We have issued restoration notices and the owners will have to take corrective measures. All property owners who are running commercial activities must stop these. And in case they want to run non-nuisance trades, then they must seek permission and pay fees," he said. Madholia pointed out that the main objective of the campaign is to prevent commercial activities in residential areas as these cause problems for colony residents, who have been complaining against these businesses at every forum. "These operations put stress on power, water, and sewage infrastructure. It also causes congestion and traffic issues for residents," he added.
