DTCP cancels allotment of 708 flats in Sohna housing project after tech glitch
India, May 2 -- The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) on Thursday said it has cancelled the allotment of 708 flats in an affordable housing project in Sector 36, Sohna, after it was found that a software glitch in the online portal of the department had led to allotment of flats to applicants from Sohna town only. The departmental committee, which probed the faulty allotment found that only 2,200 applicants out of 51,586 people who had applied, were considered for the draw. The department on February 18, had decided to withhold the faulty allotment after it found the anomaly in the results.
Senior town planner, Gurugram, Renuka Singh, said that it has been decided to cancel the previous draw as a software glitch resulted in faulty allotment. "The department on its own volition had withheld the draw results on February 18 and later a committee was formed to probe it. It was found that a technical glitch in the online system had led to faulty allotment. The result as such has been withdrawn. The department will hold a fresh draw for this project," she said.
Singh further said that those applicants who want to withdraw from the project and do not want to participate in the fresh draw will be allowed to drop out from the application process after the date of the fresh draw is fixed.
"The department is also working to streamline the online portal to ensure that there are no such software glitches in the future," she said.
The cancellation notice issued by Singh on May 1 said, "The general public/shortlisted applicants are hereby informed that the said draw has been cancelled due to an anomaly noticed by the Department in E-draw for 708 units of affordable housing project against the total 51,586 shortlisted applications and hence, the said result has been withdrawn."
To be sure, on February 18, director of Town and Country planning, Amit Khatri, had ordered a halt to the allotment process in the said project and initiated an inquiry into the e-draw system....
