DTCP acts on illegal units in Sushant Lok-1
Gurugram, July 14 -- The enforcement wing of the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) on Sunday issued show cause notice to 61 property owners in Sushant Lok Phase 1 for alleged violations including illegal constructions, unauthorised commercial use, and fully covered basements, officials said.
The action followed a street-wise survey by the DTCP team as part of its newly launched "office-on-the-spot" campaign, which involves real-time inspections and issuing notices on site. During the inspection, several commercial operations-such as clinics, gyms, departmental stores, and property dealer offices-were found functioning within residential areas in violation of planning norms.
"Operating commercial establishments, shops, restaurants, and guest houses puts pressure on infrastructure and causes inconvenience to neighbours. Show-cause notices have been issued. We are also sealing and demolishing structures in violation," said Amit Madholia, district town planner (enforcement).
As part of the drive, the team sealed one floor in C Block for unauthorised construction, demolished 17 steel staircases erected in the parking area of Vyapar Kendra, and removed three mobile counters and two sheds set up in common areas. Twenty-one offices were also sealed for excess construction.
Dr AK Nagpal, former president of the Sushant Lok 1 RWA, welcomed action against encroachments in Vyapar Kendra but urged consultation before targeting individual homeowners. "Only minor violations and changes are carried out by house owners. They should be given time to take corrective measures and get these regularised," he said.
DTCP has not made public the names of the property owners. Officials said the notices allow a seven-day window for owners to respond. "If the reply is not found satisfactory, a restoration order will follow, and sealing will be initiated if violations persist," said a DTCP official....
