Gurugram, Dec. 18 -- The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has proposed an 11.63 km completely underground corridor from Yashobhoomi metro station to Iffco Chowk. According to a DMRC traffic study shared with the Haryana government, this line is estimated to carry over 100,000 daily passengers by 2031, increasing to 177,000 by 2051. The underground alignment aims to attract commuters from the Yellow Line and private transport. The route will begin at Yashobhoomi, move beneath the Dwarka Expressway, and extend to Tau Devi Lal Park in Sector 22 for integration with the upcoming Old Gurugram line, before terminating opposite the existing Iffco Chowk station. In comparison, the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has proposed an alternative metro corridor between Palam Vihar and Rezangla Chowk. This proposed line will be fully elevated and 8.4 km long. It will have interchange stations at Sector 21 in Dwarka and at Rezangla Chowk in Palam Vihar, where it will connect with the proposed Huda City Centre-Cyber City metro line. Other proposed stations include Choma village, Sector 110A, Sector 111, Sector 28 in Dwarka and IECC. A RITES study from July 2022 projects significantly higher ridership for this option: over 200,000 daily passengers in 2031, nearly 300,000 in 2041, and over 400,000 by 2051. Its stations would include Choma village, Sector 110A, Sector 111, Sector 28 in Dwarka, and IECC, with interchanges at Sector 21, Dwarka and Rezangla Chowk. A senior government official aware of the matter said both proposals are currently under consideration by the state government and HMRTC, and a decision is expected soon....
