India, Oct. 29 -- Despite the deployment of over 120 police teams from over 40 police stations across the city to ensure the implementation of the Supreme Court's (SC) ban on bursting of firecrackers on Diwali, many people continued to burst crackers late into Sunday night. However, the police on Monday said that they were yet to compile their report and take action against violators.

The SC had allowed bursting of only green crackers between 8pm and 10pm on Diwali. Shashank Kumar, DCP, headquarters, admitted that several residents had violated the order.

"A detailed report of violations from specific areas is awaited and action would be taken against the violators if they are found guilty," said Kumar.
