Delhi plans more funds for parks and gardens to boost greenery
New Delhi, May 12 -- The Delhi government plans to increase annual maintenance assistance for parks and gardens from Rs.2.55 lakh to Rs.3.8 lakh per acre to improve green cover, officials said. The aid, disbursed through the Delhi Parks and Gardens Society to RWAs and NGOs, will also support long-term preservation of green spaces.
The government also proposes raising one-time financial assistance for new parks from Rs.1 lakh to Rs.2.9 lakh per acre, besides grants of up to Rs.2.5 lakh per acre for improving existing parks.
