delhi maps mega water plan, eyes yamuna revival
New Delhi, June 9 -- The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has proposed a Rs.10,087 crore, three-year plan to overhaul the Capital's water infrastructure and revive the Yamuna.
Submitted to Union home minister Amit Shah and Delhi water minister Parvesh Verma, the plan includes new sewage treatment plants, tapping drains, and repairing pipes.
"This is a consolidated plan that addresses every part of the water cycle," a DJB official said. It targets untreated sewage, leakage, and gaps in unauthorised colonies and aims to increase STP capacity by 862mld.
"By September 2026, treated water will be released to revive the Yamuna," said the official.
