NEW DELHI, Feb. 1 -- A 55-year-old man was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on the Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) near Jharoda Kalan in southwest Delhi on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, police aware of the matter said. According to police, poor visibility due to winter conditions appeared to be a factor in the crash. The incident came a day after five people were killed in three collisions involving commercial vehicles in different parts of the city within less than two hours on Friday, said police. In the early hours of Saturday, police said they received a PCR call at Baba Haridas Nagar police station reporting an accident involving several vehicles. When officers reached the spot, they found multiple vehicles that had collided due to "extremely poor visibility", investigators aware of the matter said. During the inquiry, police found that a taxi bearing a Punjab registration number, carrying five people including the driver, was among the vehicles involved. One of the passengers was taken to Tarak Mehta Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The deceased was identified as Chhaju Singh (55), a resident of Channuwala village in Punjab. Police said Singh was travelling to drop his son, Amandeep Singh, at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. A postmortem examination is being conducted and further legal proceedings are underway. The other vehicles involved included two cars and a two-wheeler, police added.
