Kanwariyas ignored designated lanes and sat atop speakers in the middle of main carriageways as police stood by, unable to act. "The noise is harrowing... I've complained to the police so many times. They tell me it's only a few days. But the sound can be heard even at 1am," said Rachna Arora, 61, of Rajouri Garden. A police officer, requesting anonymity, said, "We can only request Kanwariyas to lower the volume. We cannot take any other action." Despite repeated attempts by HT, DCPs from the southeast, east, north, northeast, west and south districts-Hemant Tiwari, Abhishek Dhania, Raja Banthia, Ashish Mishra, Vichitra Veer, and Ankit Chauhan-declined to comment on whether any action was being taken. "Thousands of police officials are deployed... We've received nearly 250 complaints. Wherever there's a complaint, we're making them lower the volume," the officer added....
