DDA to desilt 15 ponds in urban villages ahead of monsoon
New Delhi, May 16 -- The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to begin desilting and cleaning work on 15 ponds and lakes located largely within the city's urban villages, officials familiar with the matter said.
Most of these water bodies are in the villages of Dwarka and Rohini, and the initiative is aimed at enhancing their capacity to absorb rainwater and serve the surrounding communities better.
"The desilting work will start soon in these villages where ponds are part of community land. It will help in better groundwater recharge during the rains, and the locals will be able to use them better.
