Covid-19: No cause for panic, says Haryana health minister
India, May 24 -- The Haryana health department on Friday assured citizens that the Covid-19 situation is under control and there is no cause for alarm amid a slight uptick in cases in a few parts of the country.
Health and family welfare minister Arti Singh Rao on Friday said that the state government is actively monitoring developments and taking all necessary precautions to ensure public safety.
Till date, Haryana has reported four active Covid-19 cases - two each from Gurugram and Faridabad. All four patients, have no recent international travel history and are exhibiting only mild symptoms. They are under home quarantine and regular medical supervision, health department officials said.
They confirmed that all the patients had been vaccinated earlier, which has helped reduce the severity of the infection.
"There is no need to panic," said Rao. "This variant is mild and manageable. We are following all advisories issued by the Centre and ensuring that our civil surgeons are prepared with necessary logistics."
The health minister said that all district health officers have been told to stay alert and maintain readiness, including ensuring availability of medicines and medical staff. She said that while Covid-19 is now seen as a viral infection similar to flu, precautions such as hand hygiene, mask-wearing in crowded spaces, and avoiding large gatherings remain advisable....
