Court gives life sentence for drug possession
Rudrapur, May 29 -- The special court of NDPS Act sentenced a 32-year-old man with life imprisonment in Pithoragarh on Wednesday. Police had recovered 2.5 kg charas (Cannabis) from him. He was also slapped with a fine of Rs.1.5-lakh. Pramod Pant, government counsel in Pithoragarh district, said, "Police had recovered charas from a shopkeeper in Munsyari four years ago. The special court of NDPS Act awarded him life imprisonment on Wednesday."
Police were on routine checking in Munsyari of Pithoragarh district on December 22, 2022 when it received information that a shopkeeper of Degree College Road had charas. Police rushed and raided the shop and recovered 2.5 kg of charas in a plastic bag. The accused was identified as Laxman Singh of Daranti village under the Munsyari police station. htc...
