Couple, 4-YR-Old Son Die in F'bad After Inhaling CO2 from Heater
Gurugram, Jan. 14 -- A couple and their four-year-old son were suspected to have died of suffocation after inhaling carbon monoxide from a coal heater inside their rented room in Sarurpur colony, Faridabad. The deceased were Ramesh Kumar, 22; his wife, Mamta Devi, 27; and their son, Chotu, police said.
According to investigators, the family had lit the heater in their unventilated room before sleeping. Ramesh's elder brother, Rajesh Kumar, 25, who was also in the room, survived. He woke feeling dizzy and later alerted police after noticing blood from his brother's nose, police said. A police team rushed to the spot and shifted the three to Badshah Khan Hospital, where they were declared dead.
Yashpal Yadav, public relations officer of Faridabad police, said, "Police found the heater filled with ashes... the trio may have suffocated to death in their sleep as the room got filled with carbon monoxide." The bodies were sent for autopsy....
