MEERUT, Sept. 28 -- Bharatiya Janata Party's youth wing leader and block development committee (BDC) member from Meerut's Bhadauli village Pramod Bhadana, 32, was shot dead while returning from his fields with fodder on Saturday morning, police said.
Confirming the murder, Meerut's SP (rural) Abhijit Kumar said: "Police rushed him to hospital where he succumbed during treatment. Three police teams have been formed to crack the case."
As per reports, Pramod, who was unmarried and worked as a farmer, was taking fodder in his bullock cart when a man emerged from the sugarcane fields between Bhadauli and Aseelpur and opened indiscriminate fire.
The sound of continuous firing drew nearby farmers to the scene. They found Pramod, who was the vice president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Meerut, lying in a pool of blood and immediately alerted police. Forensic teams later confirmed that Pramod sustained three bullet injuries. Eyewitnesses claimed the shooter was armed with pistols in both hands.
Meanwhile, Pramod's family has accused one Robin, a youth from the same village, of carrying out the killing. Robin is currently absconding.
Villagers claimed he had earlier murdered his uncle five years ago. A named FIR has been filed against him. Pramod's uncle Biram Singh alleged that Robin fired around 50 rounds. "My nephew had no personal enmity. Just four days ago, Robin had fired shots elsewhere and Pramod went to complain about it. This may have triggered the attack," he said....
