Biogas plant to come up in Manesar village
Gurugram, May 23 -- The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) is actively working towards establishing a Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Nainwal village, in collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), officials said.
The initiative is part of the Central government's Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan (GOBAR-Dhan) scheme, aiming to convert municipal solid waste, cattle dung, into usable energy and organic manure, they added.
On Thursday, municipal commissioner Ayush Sinha inspected the identified 10-acre land parcel in Nainwal village along with representatives from HPCL. The site visit marks a significant step in the implementation of the plant, which is expected to improve both sanitation and environmental sustainability in the region.
Sinha said that a formal proposal outlining the plant's technical specifications, waste sourcing strategy, and operational framework will be prepared and submitted to the state government for approval shortly.
Prior to the submission of this proposal, HPCL has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive waste audit within the municipal limits. The company will liaise with cattle shelters (gaushalas), private livestock owners, local farmers, and bulk waste generators to assess the daily quantity and composition of waste that can be utilized as feedstock for the CBG plant.
According to officials, HPCL will be responsible for the plant's installation, operation, and long-term maintenance. The plant will house advanced biogas digesters that will process organic waste into compressed biogas, a clean and renewable fuel, and high-quality organic manure for agricultural use.
The project is expected to significantly reduce open dumping and burning of organic waste.
Residents of Nainwal and adjoining areas have welcomed the move. "This plant could be a game changer for our village. If this initiative brings cleanliness and provides cooking gas, it would be a major relief," said Ramesh Yadav, a local resident....
