PRAYAGRAJ, May 4 -- Enraged at molestation of a four-year-old girl student allegedly by the driver of her school van on Thursday, residents of Kunda, including traders in large numbers, in Pratapgarh district observed a bandh on Saturday. At around 10 am, people arrived in front of the school where the girl studies in LKG and raised slogans. The girl and her parents also took part in the protest. The protestors, carrying the effigy of the school and placards, demanded closure of the school and arrest of the accused who is at large. The angry crowd also tried to vandalise the school gate but could not do so as police arrived there. After the arrival of a local MLC, the police were given seven days to arrest the driver after which the protest ended at around 2pm. Station house officer, Kunda police station, Satyendra Singh said the accused will be arrested soon. On Thursday, the parents of the girl gave a complaint against the accused Bablu alias Shiv Karan Sahu at Kunda police station. On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case against the van driver. Other senior police officials, including ASP (west) Sanjay Rai and CO Amar Nath Gupta besides police force of many police stations remained present at different places in Kunda through the day....
