India, July 10 -- The Nuh district administration on Wednesday cleared an illegal pathway and handed over possession of the land to a woman farmer in Basai Meo village. The land was returned to the original owner on the directions of the deputy commissioner's (DC) court, providing relief to the landowner. Officials said the encroached land had been disputed for over a year after an unauthorised route was built through it, hampering cultivation and leading to loss of crops for the owners. The court had passed orders in a case filed in 2024, directing that the illegal path constructed on Khasra numbers 93/2, 94, and 95 (on the northern side of the village), be cleared, officials aware of the matter said. Following the court's orders, the administration removed debris and other obstructions from the site, after which the land was formally returned to Sanjida Begum, the rightful owner. The drive was supervised by the block development and panchayat officer (BDPO) of Ferozepur Jhirka, with help from revenue officials. Sanjida, who had been struggling to reclaim her land for months, said the administration's action had brought her justice. "I had lost all hope. This land is our only source of income. The illegal road not only destroyed our crops but also caused mental agony. I am thankful to the administration for taking action," she said. Nuh deputy commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said the district is committed to protecting farmers' rights and ensuring timely justice. "Protecting the rights of farmers and acting against illegal encroachments is our top priority. Strict action will be taken against those who violate land laws, and we are also ensuring that affected farmers are compensated for loss of crops," Meena said. The DC's court also highlighted serious lapses by some government officials. It has recommended disciplinary action against officers in the District Revenue and Cadastral departments for their alleged negligence in preventing the encroachment. The Naib Tehsildar of Ferozepur Jhirka has been asked to process compensation claims based on land inspection records and according to government norms....
