Meerut, May 1 -- The murder of a man in the Janikhurd area of this district on Monday was a revenge killing, if police sources are to be believed. Kishorilal, who was shot dead in broad daylight, had recently come out on bail after he was jailed in connection with the suspicious death of one Vikas last year. Two people had been arrested in connection with the murder and jailed, police said. The murder was allegedly carried out as part of a promise to waive off a Rs.30,000 debt in addition to a payment of Rs.1 lakh. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vipin Tada said the murder was orchestrated by one Gulshan, who lived in the area. Gulshan was reportedly friends with Vikas's brother Gulshan Kumar. Investigations revealed that Gulshan had borrowed Rs.30,000 from Kumar and failed to repay the amount. Instead of returning the money, Gulshan proposed to forgive the debt and pay an additional Rs.1 lakh if Kumar killed Kishorilal. On Monday morning, as Kishorilal walked to Ambedkar Bhavan around 6:15 am to collect milk, Gulshan attacked and killed him. CCTV footage from the area showed Gulshan walking with a distinctive limp, helping police identify and apprehend him later that night. Two other accused, Gulshan Kumar and Ravindra alias Raju-both allegedly involved in the murder-for-hire deal-were produced in court and sent to jail. Kishorilal had recently been released on bail in connection with the drowning of Vikas near Bhola Jhal last year. He and another man named Vinit were accused by Vikas's brother Anand of murder. Police had arrested both Kishorilal and Vinit three months ago, but Kishorilal secured bail....
