Gurugram, July 3 -- Nearly 45% of adolescents aged 10-19 tested in Gurugram district were found anaemic, according to the health department's 2024-25 data. Of 77,662 tested, 35,270 had anaemia-26% mild, 19% moderate, and some severe. Health officials link rising rates, especially in boys, to poor diets and junk food. "Anaemia is no longer limited to girls or pregnant women; boys too are at risk," said Dr Rashmi Batra, deputy chief medical officer, Gurugram.
