4 held from Punjab for Rs.1.1 crore cyber fraud
India, June 1 -- Four men were arrested from Ludhiana in Punjab by the Faridabad police for their alleged involvement in a cyber fraud amounting to Rs.1.1 crore, police said on Saturday.
Investigators identified the arrested men as Rakesh Kumar, 24, of Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, Gautam Kumar, 21, of New Shakti Colony, Sahil Kumar, 19, and Aditya Kumar, 20, of New Subhash Colony, in Ludhiana.
Police said that Gautam Kumar was a college student while Aditya was working as a cab driver in Ludhiana. All four were arrested on Thursday night and were taken on six-day police remand for interrogation after being produced before a court on Friday.
Faridabad police, public relations officer, Yashpal Yadav, said that the men made the Faridabad-based victim deposit Rs.1.1 crore in various bank accounts.
The victim realised later that he was part of a cyber fraud and submitted a complaint at the Cybercrime (Central) police station. An FIR was registered on April 29, Yadav said.
"We are questioning the accused to arrest their other associates and trying to recover the duped money," Yadav said....
