32-yr-old MPhil holder held for 2 Delhi robberies
NEW DELHI, Oct. 13 -- A 32-year-old man with an MPhil in Chemistry from Delhi University has been arrested by the Delhi Police crime branch from Sohna, Haryana, for his alleged involvement in two armed jewellery shop robberies in north Delhi's Model Town in 2021. DCP (crime branch) Harsh Indora identified the accused as Deep Shubham, a native of Sitamarhi, Bihar.
Shubham, once a bright student, was declared a proclaimed offender by Rohini courts last year for absconding during trial in a Model Town robbery case. He was earlier convicted in a 2017 Bank of India robbery in Bihar, where he used his chemistry knowledge to prepare a smoke bomb.
Police said he was arrested following a tip-off and nabbed from Hari Nagar in Sohna. A graduate of Kirori Mal College, Shubham completed his BSc, MSc, and MPhil, and briefly studied law in Visakhapatnam. After meeting Ritesh Thakur in jail, the duo later executed two Model Town heists, looting Rs.6 lakh and Rs.70,000 respectively....
