21-yr-old stabbed 7 times in Faridabad; suspect on run
Faridabad, Jan. 13 -- A 22-year-old man, along with five associates, assaulted and stabbed another man at least seven times in Sector 89, Faridabad, after spending weeks pretending to be a woman online to lure him, police said Monday. The victim, critically injured, was "lucky" to survive, they said, adding two suspects are arrested and the prime accused is on the run.
Police identified the victim as Ishan, 21, a Dabua resident who owns a Sector 16 eyewear showroom. The incident took place on January 4 between 7.30pm and 8pm. The suspects stabbed Ishan in the neck, chest, and abdomen with an ice-pick.
The arrested suspects were identified as Chintu Kumar, 22, from Mathura and Suraj Diwakar, 23, from Agra, both working at private firms and residing in Faridabad, police said. The prime accused, 22-year-old Dev, who goes by a single name, and three associates are fugitives, said Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav.
A senior officer stated, "Dev was looking for an opportunity for revenge," after Ishan, a former friend, stopped taking his calls following a dispute nearly four months ago. "It was Dev who created a fake Instagram profile of a woman and befriended Ishan over the social media platform in October last year," the officer said.
Posing as the woman, Dev exchanged romantic messages with Ishan, eventually arranging a date in Sector 89 on January 4. When Ishan arrived, Dev and his five associates assaulted him. "Dev was armed with an ice-pick which he used to stab Ishan multiple times in quick succession, leaving him critically injured. Afterwards, the suspects fled," the officer said.
Commuters alerted the police control room, and Ishan was rushed to a private hospital. "Ishan is lucky to have survived even after being stabbed in the neck as he had received medical help quickly," said PRO Yadav, adding the exact reason "will be clear once the prime accused is arrested." "We have booked all six suspects in an FIR for attempted murder at the BPTP police station," he said, adding four suspects remain at large....
