Gurugram, July 9 -- Fifteen automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras will go live from Thursday at key points on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway (NH-48) and Dwarka Expressway to detect traffic violations and issue e-challans, Gurugram traffic police said on Tuesday. "Six cameras will be activated on NH-48 and nine on Dwarka Expressway. These will track 14 violations, including speeding, wrong-side driving, triple riding, and driving without helmets or seatbelts," said DCP (traffic) Rajesh Kumar Mohan. "They use global shutter technology for accurate plate reading even at high speeds." Enforcement was earlier limited to manual checks till 8pm. "Wrong-side driving has led to several fatal crashes, especially on Dwarka Expressway," Mohan added. The system is linked to a control room and sends alerts in case of jams, breakdowns, or accidents. "If a vehicle is stationary for more than five seconds, it flags an obstruction," said a senior official. Officials said challans for restricted vehicles will soon be automated as well....
