'will consider whether to continue break from politics'
Dehradun, April 11 -- Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat on Friday said he will review whether to continue his break from political activity, which is set to conclude on Saturday.
Rawat had announced a 15-day political break on March 27, ahead of the induction of six new leaders into the party.
"I will review it and take a decision on whether to continue it or come out of it," he told HT on Fridayw.
In a Facebook post on March 27, he had said: "I have arrived at the conclusion that after this long and tireless journey, I have earned the right to take a break as an active political worker. As the first instalment of this earned break, I will observe a 15-day pause from political thinking and political activities."
Party insiders claimed that Rawat wanted to facilitate the induction of Ramnagar-based leader Sanjay Negi into the party, but the move did not materialise due to opposition from senior leaders.
On March 28, six leaders- former BJP Rudrapur MLA Rajkumar Thukral, former BSP Sitarganj MLA Narayan Pal, former block chief Lakhan Singh Negi, former BJP Ghanshali MLA Bhim Lal Arya, former Mussoorie Municipal Council chairman Anuj Gupta, and former Roorkee mayor Gaurav Goel ,joined the Congress at the AICC office in New Delhi....
