Rudrapur, Sept. 13 -- The Udham Singh Nagar district administration on Friday demolished an illegally constructed mazaar (tomb) in Kachnalgusain village of Kashipur block after its caretaker failed to furnish valid land documents, officials said. Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Abhay Pratap Singh said the administration, accompanied by police personnel and a JCB, carried out the demolition early in the morning. "The manager of the mazaar, identified as Mehboob, was issued notice on August 17 to produce relevant documents within 15 days. He failed to do so, following which the structure was razed," Singh said. Villagers had earlier complained that the structure was built on land belonging to a temple. Upon inspection, officials found the mazaar had come up on government land, prompting the action. The move came a day after the administration in Ramnagar demolished three similar structures built on forest land in Lutabagad, Chorpani and Shivlalpur villages.
