Took me 16 years to get here: Royals composer Harsh Upadhyay
India, June 7 -- Few stories in the entertainment industry are as inspiring as Harsh Upadhyay's. The composer - once homeless - turned his luck around to produce music for dance reality shows and working with some of the biggest names in Bollywood.
"It took me 16 years to get here," says Harsh, reflecting on finally getting his big break. "Making 10 tracks a day for reality shows was tough, but it trained me to adapt and experiment. It kept the dream alive," he adds.
He is now enjoying the appreciation that has come his way after composing the soundtrack for the web series The Royals. "I always dreamed of creating a powerful title track for a series. And the response has been overwhelming. It's trending globally, and people from across the world have been writing to share their love," the composer says.
It's been an eventful time for Harsh. Earlier this year, he composed the soundtrack to choreographer-director Remo Dsouza's film, Be Happy. Speaking about his long-time collaborator, he shares, "I'd been creating music for Remo sir's projects (including the Anybody Can Dance films and Street Dancer; 2020) for years but never got the chance to compose a full song. Now, I'm the music director of his film - it feels like everything was preparing me for this moment."
Up next, Harsh is working with Kajol for her film Maa and Ajay Devgn for Son of Sardaar 2. "Each film demands a different musical language. Some scenes need subtlety, while others require bolder rhythms. It's about capturing the right emotion," he ends....
