India, May 3 -- A mid growing buzz around his work on the Dhurandhar films and web series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, composer Shashwat Sachdev is also reportedly in early talks for a collaboration with actor Ram Charan, though he remains tight-lipped. "It's still an early phase. I'd rather not get into specifics," he says, adding that he is optimistic about the global trajectory of Indian music. Speaking about his recent projects, Sachdev says Dhurandhar was built on instinct and creative freedom. "The brief was liberating. to trust instinct and follow the gut," he shares, adding that the team followed a strict rule: "If even one of us didn't completely love something, it wouldn't go out." The soundtrack, he says, was conceived as "one continuous journey", evolving while staying rooted in the same emotional world. His sonic language, often blending orchestral and electronic elements, follows a similar philosophy. "It's about responding to what the scene needs. emotion first, not format." Reflecting on his evolution since Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), Sachdev says he now values clarity over ambition. "I've become more comfortable with who I am. choosing what feels right over what feels impressive," he says. While The Ba***ds of Bollywood gave him room to experiment, he calls it "less structured. it allowed me to explore without the weight of narrative." On collaborating with German composer Hans Zimmer for Virdee, he adds, "It changes how you think. how deeply you can go into sound while keeping it human." For Sachdev, the larger goal remains expanding the global reach of Indian music: "Indian sound has layers people haven't fully heard yet. this feels like a chance to open that door a little wider."...
