The bronze that rewrites Indian shooting history

n Cairo earlier this month, Esha Singh delivered a milestone Indian shooting had never reached before, becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual senior world championship medal in pistol events with her bronze in the 25m category.
The podium finish extends a strong season that already includes individual gold and silver at World Cup stages, with the World Cup Finals in Doha now the last event on her championship calendar.
Esha calls this medal her most significant yet. "World Championship is a very special medal for me. it could be my highest achievement until this point," she says, noting the strength of the field and the pressure she carried through qualification. Shooting her highest qualification score of the season added to the moment. She says, "Surpassing that pressure and giving my absolute best is definitely a special win. I'm very grateful and happy about it."
The historic nature of the medal is still sinking in. "It's a very heartfelt moment. very, very grateful that I'm the first one to get this in the women's category," she says. But even as she acknowledges the prestige, she is careful to stay grounded. "I will take this as another experience in my bucket that has helped me build up."
Cairo also brought her a second podium. Teaming with Samrat Rana, she won silver in the 10m air pistol mixed event, finishing 10-16 against China's Qianxun Yao and Kai Hu - a result that kept India second on the medal table behind China.
Her season has hinged on balancing both 10m and 25m pistol, a dual focus she admits is demanding. "It's not easy balancing 10 and 25. the feel is different, the weight is different, the intensity is very different," she says. The switches drain her but also sharpen her. "It takes a lot of mental endurance. I've built it up over the years, and those experiences are helping me perform now."...
