Tackling the Hype and Hope of Weight Loss

he downpour in Delhi may have brought traffic to a standstill on Thursday, but the Capital's swish set left their cars behind and walked through, eager to make it to the launch of Dr Ambrish Mithal and Shivam Vij's book The Weight Loss Revolution, which is part of the Prabha Khaitan Foundation's Kitaab series.
With GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic, WeGovy and Mounjaro taking the world by storm, many questions still remain. These and more were answered during an evening session moderated by journalist and author Vir Sanghvi.
Dr Mithal shared, "The reason for this particular book is that the field is undergoing a revolution, especially in India, where these drugs have now introduced. They are being used and misused, so I thought it was a good idea to present the proper scientific perspective."
Chief Guest of the evening, Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the PMO with Independent Charge of the Department of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, emphasised the risk of obesity. Guest of honour, actor Sharmila Tagore echoed the sentiment: "Ozempic is a buzzword, surrounded by a mix of information and misinformation. With so much chatter, it's easy to feel overwhelmed."...
