Swipe left on marriage mistakes: Relationship coach on the ways couples self-destruct

India, Nov. 2 -- Divorce rates are surging globally, and relationship coach Javal Bhatt says that the warning signs often appear long before the wedding. In a viral Instagram post, he flags rushed arranged marriages, urging couples to meet for 6-12 months first, and "not clearing these non-negotiables and being real before marriage" on issues like kids, careers and money.
Another red flag is a mismatch of words and action. Promising something and doing something else, making the actions and words not match. Bhatt cautions against such marriages based only on attraction, noting that lifestyle and behaviour compatibility matter more.
Soon enough, effort fades, emotional unavailability creeps in, and the playfulness evaporates. He explains, "Couples suddenly stop flirting or complimenting just because they are wife or husband." This, he cautions, paves the way for a blame game where there is little to no self-reflection and accountability.
His takeaway is simple. slow down, align expectations, and keep investing daily in the bond. Love takes work....
