India, Sept. 21 -- Delhi might be gearing up for the festive season, but the city's line producers are less than enthusiastic. From September to January, there is typically a rush as filmmakers throng the Capital to shoot festival and winter sequences for their projects. However, line producers say shoots have seen an almost 80% decline amid the multiple permissions and rising costs required to shoot in Delhi-NCR. With their livelihood on unsteady ground, line producers in the city are banding together to form an association to address theses issues. The association is expected to represent 40-50 line producers, and HT City has exclusively learnt it is expected to encompass 50,000 members, which include vendors, junior artistes, and technicians. Line producer Javed Khan shares, "Getting permissions in Delhi for a shoot has become very difficult. We hope this association will help our issues get heard." However, a source close to these developments says he "isn't in favour" of the association being formed. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, he says, "I don't think making a union will help. The Delhi line producers' demands aren't feasible. They want producers to connect directly with them and not the vendors. Aap kisi ke haath nahin baandh sakte." Noting the recent decline in business, he adds, "Abhi toh kuchh kaam hi nahin hai; tum pehle kaam wapas lao Delhi mein. CM se milo, subsidy relief lao. Uske baad unions banao."...
