Shikha Talsania's all for sequels and franchises

here's growing chatter around the global film industry's increasing dependence on franchises, sequels and cinematic universes in the pursuit of box office success. Bollywood, too, has followed suit - this year alone, over 10 franchise films have either hit, or will hit the marquee.
Even the OTT space, once celebrated for its experimental storytelling, is seeing a surge in follow-up seasons. With creators often cashing in on the popularity of original titles, one wonders - are we compromising on fresh narratives?
Actor Shikha Talsania, recently seen in Special OPS Season 2, weighs in: "It's happening across the globe; it's not exclusive to us. When you have a good thing, you ride that golden goose. Creatively, too, you're exploring where the story can go. If it lends itself to sequels or additional seasons, then why not? Let's explore it-hundred percent."
The 34-year-old, who also starred in Mistry, a remake of the international hit Monk, welcomes the variety that OTT platforms offer. "I get a mix of roles in films too, but the digital space has opened up a world of opportunities for actors who might not have been discovered otherwise," she adds.
But what about the quality of content when shows are stretched only to retain eyeballs? "That's very subjective - it depends on who's making it and who's watching it. Everyone has their own opinion."
On the subject of sequels, would she be game for a follow-up to Veere Di Wedding (2018)? "It would be fantastic," she smiles, adding, "We've spoken about it. Now, the answers lie with the producers."...
