Shashwat Sachdev: i'm a storyteller
India, Nov. 14 -- Fresh off the success of The Ba***ds of Bollywood and with upcoming film, Dhurandhar already making waves, the National Award-winning composer Shashwat Sachdev finds himself in a rare creative rhythm; where instinct leads, and the story decides everything else. For him, the core of composition isn't about grandeur or genre, but about truth.
"It's always been about being true to the material. Sometimes that means enhancing the story, sometimes filling in emotional blanks. I'm just a storyteller who uses sound instead of words," he says. That philosophy shapes everything he touches; from his recent collaboration with director Aryan Khan to his next project with Hanumankind starring Ranveer Singh.
On working with Aryan, he adds, "His aim was just to entertain people; no overthinking, no noise. When that kind of energy fills the room, it becomes something spiritual. We worked through the night, so our sessions felt like a creative festival; laughter, madness, and music that never stopped."
Now, Dhurandhar continues that same search for honesty. "It's one of those rare scripts that comes from a very deep place. Aditya (Dhar; director) has done something extraordinary twice; first when he wrote it, and again when he directed it. The script played like a movie in my mind," he shares.
Most of the music, Shashwat reveals, was composed before he saw a single frame. "That's how powerful the writing was. It already told what it needed to sound like," he continues, adding that he roped in rapper Hanumankind to give the album a global edge. "He's fearless, original, and unapologetic. The film needed that kind of fire- something raw and international at heart," he says....
