RM injured hours before BTS comeback show, to still perform in 'limited role'
India, March 21 -- The comeback of K-pop boy band BTS got complicated just a day before the opening show at Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square on Friday. The band's agency, Bighit Music confirmed that the rapper RM sustained an ankle injury during rehearsals and will perform tomorrow in a limited role.
In a statement, the agency revealed that he had to be hospitalised briefly: "The diagnosis confirmed a sprain of the accessory navicular, a partial ligament tear, and a talus contusion (which includes ligament damage and inflammation). As advised by medical professionals, he must wear a cast and strictly limit movement for a minimum of two weeks to concentrate solely on his recovery.
Though injured, RM's performance, including choreography, will be partially limited, the agency confirmed, adding, "Although RM's on-stage performance will inevitably be limited, he will do his best to participate on stage and engage with ARMY and the audience."
The concert marks BTS's first full group performance since 2022, coming a day after the release of ARIRANG, the band's first studio album in three years and nine months. Following the special comeback concert, BTS will embark on their 82-show world tour Arirang in April.
