Rising fatty liver cases urge timely liver care
India, Dec. 22 -- From children to adults, the love for oily street food cuts across all age groups. Late-night food stalls crowded with customers and the growing dependence on food delivery apps have turned outside food from an occasional indulgence into a daily habit.
One of the fastest-rising lifestyle conditions linked to these habits is fatty liver disease. Once considered uncommon, fatty liver is now affecting people across age groups, often without any early warning signs. It develops when excess fat accumulates in the liver, gradually affecting its ability to function efficiently. Many people discover the condition late, when liver damage has already begun.
Sharing his views, Vishisht Seva Medal Awardee by President of India for his service, Dr Bhaskar Nandi, Director and Head of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy at Sarvodaya Hospital, Sector 8, Faridabad, says, "Besides processed and oily foods, irregular meal timings, high sugar intake, lack of physical activity, chronic stress, poor sleep, alcohol consumption, and smoking also place constant strain on the liver. If ignored, fatty liver can progress to serious liver disorders."
He further shares, "The disease is largely reversible when detected early. The most effective remedy lies in sustained lifestyle changes, including balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, healthy weight management, stress control, adequate sleep, and timely medical evaluation."
Recognising the growing need for focused and specialised liver care, Sarvodaya Hospital has introduced a Special Liver Clinic dedicated to the prevention, early detection, comprehensive management, and treatment of all liver diseases and conditions across all age groups.
